In 2018, the Center for Health Policy Research and Evaluation, Renmin University of China was established to adapt to the development of public management, economics and other disciplines, and to meet the needs of China's social economy and national development strategy. As a high-quality research institution, the center is a high-end think tank of the National Health Commission and the Ministry of Finance. It is also a senior research partner of international organizations such as the World Bank, the Asian Development Bank, the World Health Organization and UNICEF. The center maintains long-term strategic partnerships with government departments, medical institutions and well-known enterprises. The center has more than 80 full-time researchers, part-time researchers and expert consultants, who are mainly from universities, central and local governments, international organizations, research institutions, medical institutions and enterprises.

With the "Double First-Class" resources of Renmin University of China, the center focuses on the research areas of health economy, health policy, health management and social security. The center pays attention to the major theoretical questions in medical reform, medical and health development, sustainable population development, and health policy making. The center aims to provide China’s government and the international community with reform experience, policy design, policy planning and project evaluation in the field of health policy and management. Meanwhile, taking the promotion of knowledge dissemination as its responsibility, the center is devoted to organizing international exchanges and collaborative research widely, strengthening cooperation with domestic and foreign universities in terms of talent training and scientific research, establishing an international talent training system in health management, and training and reserving high-end health talents for relevant national departments and institutions.

In recent years, the center has undertaken nearly 100 important research projects related to our country’s major strategic demands, including series of studies on the high-quality development of public hospitals, public health system reform, primary health system reform, family doctor incentive, the stability of public health investment, the governance of CVOID-19 response, China's maternal and child health system strategic reform, China's integrated health care system reform, China’s 13th and 14th Five-Year health reform plan, China’s basic health institution and so on. Based on these important research work, the center has finished a series of academic papers, internal reference reports, monographs and research reports. It contributes a lot to international organizations and Chinese government in making and improving health policies, and promoting the efficiency, equity and availability of health care services supply.Meanwhile, relying on think tank resources, the center has established a number of research and experimental bases and talent training bases in various regions of China. It provides analysis tools and a big data platform for making and designing national health reforms and social security policies. In addition, it provides important conditions for studying China's health economy and policy evaluation.
